Your first run-through

The steps between your first sign-in and a working workspace.

#What onboarding is for

The first time you sign in, sSystm walks you through a short setup. It exists because three of the decisions it asks for are hard to change later — which cloud account holds your data, which jurisdiction it sits in, and which organisation you are setting up — and because leaving them to be discovered in settings is how people end up with a workspace they did not mean to build.

It is not a tour. Every step does something real, and when it is over the workspace is genuinely set up.

#If you are setting up the organisation

Eight steps, in this order:

  1. Welcome. What you are about to set up, and roughly how long it takes.
  2. Connect your cloud. One consent screen against your own Cloudflare account. This is what makes BYOC real — sSystm creates your database there. See Connecting your cloud.
  3. Region. Which jurisdiction your database was placed in. This step only appears once a cloud account is connected, because it is describing your database — an organisation without one has no region to choose.
  4. Terms. The agreement, accepted once.
  5. Passkey. Add one now and signing in becomes a single touch. You can skip it and add one later from settings.
  6. Organisation. Name and basic details for the agency itself.
  7. Modules. Which parts of the system you want switched on. Nothing here is permanent — modules can be turned on and off at any time.
  8. Connect your AI. The MCP details, so the AI you already use can reach this workspace. See Connect your AI.
You can leave and come back

The cloud connection sends you out to Cloudflare and back again, and life interrupts. Onboarding remembers which step you were on for the rest of the browser session, so returning puts you back where you left rather than at the beginning.

#If you were invited to someone else’s workspace

Four steps: welcome, terms, passkey, done.

No cloud connection, no region, no module choice — the organisation you were invited to has already made those decisions, and you work inside them. That is also why an invited member never connects a cloud account of their own: there is one per organisation, not one per person.
